first off you need to work out why your dog is losing weight...the vet should perform more tests on the dog even though they said that there is nothing wrong...because obviously there is otherwise your dog would not be underweight...your vet should off given you some advice and ideas on how to help your dog and how he/she can gain weight...if the vet did not disclose this information then maybe it is time that you find a new vet

Questions like this are impossible to answer without any details. What kind of dog is he? How old is he? How tall is he and how much does he weigh? What do you feed him, how much and how often? Does he finish what you give him or leave food in the bowl? You said the vet said there was nothing wrong. Did the vet think he was too skinny? Did he do any diagnostics? Did you even tell the vet you think the dog is too skinny? If you add some details, maybe someone can help you. Good Luck!!

Depending on the breed, some dogs do not metabolize some protean sources as well as others. A common is that they will not gain weight on a Lamb based food but will on a Chicken based food, and then others of the same breed will have a loose stool on a Chicken based food, but will have a ferm stool when fed Lamb. Point is don't be afraid to experiment with your dogs diet a little, just be sure to give each food enough time to work.
You will also find that there are some dogs that just don't have time to gain weight. I have a little female that the only way she would ever gain an ounce would be to lock her up in a small dog crate so that she wouldn't be able to move.

Did your Vet tell you the dog should gain some weight? Some dogs look thin but it is healthy for the type of dog they are. If not, ask your Vet what he would recommend. You can add some oatmeal to their food, cooked. You can also feed the dog a puppy food, but go by your Vet's recommendation.

Have the vet examine him out yet he would be a skinny canine. I even have a shepherd combination it particularly is skinny because of the fact he has an rather severe metabolism. He eats a ton of foodstuff and superb after he's accomplished eating he starts burning up so we had him to the vet because of the fact we theory there became something incorrect with him whilst he wasn't gaining quite some wait whilst we've been given him from the shield. They pronounced he became high quality he's purely a skinny canine. i'd surely have your canine to the vet to make specific there is not any underlying reason and if there is now not you have it on record that your canine is merely skinny and not being starved ought to somebody see him and think of it particularly is the case.

Feed him a good quality food. One that doesn't contain corn, wheat, soy or beet pulp. Look for foods that have meat as at least the first 2 ingredients. Dogs process meat protein for proper nutrition, not grains.
Some good foods:
Canidae, Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul, Wellness, Blue Buffalo, Fromm, Solid Gold, California Natural, Natural Balance.
Stay away from foods such as:
IAMS/Eukanuba, Purina Dog Chow, Pedigree...these foods contain too much cheap fillers and too many by products. It takes 3 x as much of these cheap foods for a dog to get proper nutrition then it does from good quality foods.

Exactly, some dogs just do not gain weight as you think they might. A good nutritious food that has some more fats in them may help put on a few more pounds but besides this, you should not be overly worried, the vet cleared him.

Talk to the vet about this!
How you expect strangers who AREN"T vets to diagnose a dog via internet message board?

Try something like peanut butter.....just not too much because it is people food. Also, feed him a lot of treats.
