Only if you didn't want someone to know the commands you are giving your dog. A lot of dogs are now taught/trained in many different languages so that the "common" person won't know the commands that are being given to the dogs. A lot of Law Enforcement dogs are taught commands that are NOT in English so the dog doesn't get "confused" when it's Handler gives a command during an "encounter" while out on patrol with a lot of people around. Personally my own dogs are NOT given commands in English, they were trained with another language. Also to let you know,my dogs are not German Shepherds,so it doesn't matter the breed of the dog, only how they are trained.

You have two issues. The dog's behavior and your husband's behavior. You have talked with your husband and had professionals talk with him, without success. There is nothing I, or anyone, can tell you to GET your husband to follow through with training if he is determined not to. Whether the dog can be trained enough to ensure she is safe, it can't happen if your husband undermines the training. As long as he is around the dog, she will not be safe to be around your children or others. Your first responsibility as a mother is protecting your children. To do this you will need to choose between keeping your husband or keeping the dog. Even if he were to be kept away from the dog, it may be too late to undo the damage. Euthanising the dog is a hard choice to make, but sometimes necessary. You must think of what is best for your children, others and your dog. Not only is your children's safety at risk, but how happy a life can your dog have having to be kept confined in close quarters or muzzled. I'm sorry, but I see no happy ending to this story. By the way. Encouraging viciousness in a dog, doesn't make it a good protector. A good protector is not aggressive without cause. A good protector is under control so it can be with you or your children for when protection is needed. An aggressive dog that is out of control must be confined and won't be there when needed. German Shepherd Dogs are usually protective of children, not aggressive toward them. Especially children within their households.

The only time you would have to use German commands with a German Shepherd is when you buy a German trained security dog from Germany. Otherwise english is fine!

The specific command word is not important. Short, clear words that are easily understood by other humans are generally recommended; that way, people will understand what a master is telling his dog to do and other masters have a good chance of controlling someone else's dog if necessary. In fact, dogs can learn commands in any language or other communications medium, including whistles, mouth sounds, hand gestures, and so forth. So really it doesn't matter which language you use.

Come on! don't waste the space and time! If the dog is trained USING German, then yes! Otherwise, no. But it would be best to speak in Enlish because it might confuse him, and other people could give him commands.

Funny story (not-so-funny).........my best friend in high school had a shepherd and oddly enough (considering she is not of german decent) the dog was more likely to respond to 'no' if it was said in german ("nine", I think is how it is pronounced) Dunno...maybe it was just a freak thing.

It would depend on what commands you gave him. If you said "Go jump off a cliff" in any language, he probably wouldn't obey. For the rest, it depends on what language he has been exposed to.
