I applied for AmEx card and they sent me a letter asking me for the 3 months most recent personal bank statements to verify my total annual income. Does that mean I am approved as long as I prove to them my annual income is same as the one that I had put in my application?
Does that mean that I am approved. I already applied online. and that was their response.

If I sent the bank statements, will they give me the card?

AmEx is a tough one to get. I'm sure that is only one part of their approval proess. Credit score means alot to AmEx.

I have an AMEX GOLD and I didn't have to provide any type of bank statements. Are you self employed? or Making an 200K+? They are probably just wanting your income so they know what kind of limit to give you. And wait before you say it, I know there is not limit, but in reality there is a limit. It's called "out of pattern spending" and they will cut your card off without notice if they decide you are out of pattern for that month. The good thing is after the first year or so they learn your pattern and stop cutting your card off, but it can be hassle in the beginning.

If they want to verify income, they would ask for pay statements, not bank statements. Bank statements show funds on deposit, not income. You need to review the letter and make sure you know what they are asking. If you still have questions, call AmEx customer service and ask about the letter. NOTE: look up the phone number independently. Don't use any number provided in the letter without verifying it.
