It might be due to a low battery. Does your Caddy seem to crank over slowly before it starts. If it does, then you might need to replace your car's battery. What happens is that the voltage goes down when the starter is engaged because a starter is a big draw on the battery. This low voltage can make some of the modules on your car do some funky stuff. Once the engine starts the alternator takes over and brings the system voltage back up to over 12 volts.
May or may not be the problem in your case, but it gives you something to try anyway.

Mr Badwrench is onto it.
We had a bad battery on our Chevy and it did all kinds of strange things. The horn would honk when we were at the drive up window at the bank. The needles on the gauges would go crazy as we'd try to start the car. Took it in. Bad battery. With all the electronics on these cars, a bad or low battery will do lots of wierd stuff.

You will have to take the car in for service because it is a computer glitch problem. I had one do the same with the trunk but not the gas. Cost me around 300 to get the problem fixed but had no more problems.
