Regular homogenized milk contains 4% butterfat, but calls itself "Regular Milk"
2% milk is for people who are looking to reduce that fat content by half
1% milk is for other people who are looking to drink milk that is only 25% as fatty as regular milk.
Skim milk has .5% fat, and is therefor 12.5% as fatty as regular milk.

Taste. Removing fat from milk is basically a marketing ploy to sell it to people on diets in a country where obesity is common. It does nothing for the milk. 1% and 2% are commonly marketed levels, although there are many products in between that are simply called lowfat, lite, or whatever else sounds good. Generally, the more fat that is in it, the more satisfying it tastes. Companies that advertise the percentage are simply telling you how much of the almost 4% fat that is in the milk originally is left in the product, Then you can decide how much the fat or flavor matter to you, and buy appropriately.

cuz they both are have a lower % of fat then whole milk.
