I have a good friend that is really into French wine and I would like to get her a nice bottle for X-mas. I know quite a bit about California wines but I know nothing about French wines. Any Ideas? Thanks. Price: $25- $75 I'm looking to spend

Duhh, good price...
A bottle of Champagne,
or a Bordeau Mouton Rohschtild of his birthday, why not?
But I think it'll be more expensive...

Anyway, go to a French expert, he'll advise you...among a thousand of 'appelations, you've choice...

Bien à vous

Within your price range, there are a number of currently available fantastic values from the 2003 vintage in the Chateauneuf du Pape region of France's Southern Rhone Valley. Many of these have graced Wine Spectator's top 100 lists for 2005 and the recently released 2006 list. They are drinkable now but will age for a good 15-20 years effortlessly.
