Don't use ANY flea products including shampoo or collars on a 5 week old puppy. NEVER, EVER use any OTC flea products on any dog or puppy. They are ineffective and dangerous.

The only safe thing to use on a puppy is a flea comb and give a shampoo with Dawn dishwashing liquid, rinse thoroughly dry in a warm draft free area. When the puppy is 8 weeks old go to the vet and get Advantage or Frontline Plus.

For puppies and kittens, flea shampoo can be used but have them well diluted before using them on the little ones. Instead of applying the flea shampoo directly onto the young puppy or kitty, pour a bit of it into a bucket or pail of water and mixed. You may then use this diluted shampoo on the puppy or kitten. However, having said that, it is best to first check with your vet to ensure that the flea shampoo you intended to use is indeed safe.

i would check with your vet. They will tell you what shampoos are safe for puppies. And you should dilute it, because the medication can be too strong for the puppy. And after he is bathed, wait about 24 hours then you should apply a topical flea product, like revolution. Your veterinarian will tell you which products are safe for such young puppies. Good Luck! I hope you get rid of the fleas!

DO NOT use any product on a puppy that young. They are designed for puppies and kittens older than 8 weeks of age. (They are toxic) Call your vet and they can give you recommendations on how to kill the fleas. Again, please don't use anything at all till you talk to your vet. Don't water down any medication. You are reducing the effectiveness of the medicine by so doing. GL

Check the labels but most products do not say they are safe to use on puppies less than 6 weeks old. You might want to contact your vet. Sometimes they have products that are safer that the over the counter shampoos or spot_ons that are available.

Ajax dish washing liquid surprisingly gets rid of fleas, and smells good too. Or you could go get a really expensive one for no reason.
