My friends, Julia and Alan are getting married sometime next year and she's already making wedding plans and invitations. I met them through her mother, whom happens to work with me. They're both great people and I became good friends with her. I'm not very good at selecting gifts and I was thinking that maybe a cash gift would be suitable. I don't want them to think I didn't put much thought into selecting a gift. Would a cash gift be considered impersonal from my part? If it's not, what is a good amount, considering i'm in a tight budget at this moment..

from my experience, gift cards and cash are great. some people think money is rude but look at it this way, with a gift card or cash, you purchase exactly what you want. sometimes people give you things you don't need or want and it's hard to pretend you like it. and people give cash in envelopes at weddings all the time. if you don't extually know the person (as you mentioined) then maybe a $50 amex gift card would be gould. hope it helps.

I would said first see if they are registered anywhere, this is always a good place to start...or picture frames, usually sliver, are always good too, then they can put pictures of the wedding in it. Cash is always good too, though. Maybe talk to the gal you work with and see if she knows what they prefer, some cash they can use on the honeymoon or something off the registry.

maximum brides will sign up at aim, mattress bathtub and previous, or LinensNThings, Macy's (or some branch save of their area), Williams Sonoma. I even have additionally considered couples sign up at Lowe's or abode Depot. which isn't a bad thought because of the fact while they flow right into a house they'd purchase paint, vegetation, or different issues that usually are not thought-approximately till you very own a house. unique presents could be artwork, silver, crystal vase or bowl, exhilaration of Cooking Cookbook (a needed in each kitchen for a beginner to a expert) with a private inscription and a outstanding wood spoon.

If they don't have a gift list, you could ask what they would like. If you didn't want to ask, cash is always a good choice. How much is up to you. That way they can get something they really want and not end up with duplicates.

Cash is never a bad gift. Perhaps they will register somewhere and you can either choose from that list or get a gift card for them to their favorite store.

I believe anything would be appreciated by the couple.

You can buy them kitchen stuffs like egg boilers, Rare China, exotic pepper and salt shaker. Cool CD player.

Or you can go for home decors---- Chinese figurines like a jade 4 horses, a small jade budhha for good luck, a feng shui item for the house.

Bedroom ideas---- like fine pillow cases or flat sheets, Comforter is good. Curtains or exotic alarm clock for the side table, A tall lamp.

Garden stuff ---- plant stand or garden gadgets.

Just give something useful to them, not something they will just keep ion the closet.

Don't give cash.

Do they have a gift registry? The best thing to do would be to pick an item off of their gift registry if they have one.
