Whatever happened to agape and compassion?

A very wise man once said: 'Judge not lest ye be judged.' He also said 'Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,' 'Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful,' 'the measure you give will be the measure you get back,' 'God is love, and those who abide in love, abide in God.'

What happened to 'the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone,' what Christians here can say they are really abiding by the Bible?

Just my two cents,

x

I'm not saying I'm perfect. But the Bible isn't my Holy Book, and I've seen people preaching a lot of things on this site that do not fit with what Jesus taught.

Perfect agape love and compassion only exist in Christ. When we as people choose Christ, we can be "in Him" and these traits (of His) will shine in us for others to see. But we do not possess these traits on our own. Therefore when we are not "in Him" we do not have them. Since Christ is perfect, He is always full of compassion and love. But since we are not, it varies with us, even from day to day.

I believe in what God said, and I also believe in the holy Bible. But from an earthly relm my mother always told me " If you can't say anything nice about someone don't say anything at all". To me that is good advice, when I was younger I wanted to argue my beliefs now I just let it go, and go on living my life

I agree with you.....we are to love one another as Christ loved us. If we do not then we are not really Christians.

"Avenge not yourselves, beloved, but give place unto the wrath of God : for it is written, Vengeance belongeth unto me; I will recompense, saith the Lord."

Oh yes i forgot, the continuation of that above one:

"But if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him to drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head."

it is impossible for each individual to like everyone else because of personality differences. if you like me fine then we'll get along. however, if you don't try to get to know me then this is your loss not mine.

I can't say that I like everyone, if someone can't stand me, I can't stand them.
