Psalm 66:18 says that "if I regard iniquity in my heart the Lord will not hear me." That could be one reason. Another thing that can help you to focus is to fast. That does not have to be no food or water but can just be to eat fruit or eat lightly. It makes a difference on how you can think with what you eat. That is one reason that Jesus fasted so long before He was tempted.
One other thing is that praying does not have to be a "chore"....it is talking to a friend. If you had a friend with you all the time...you would have no problem "remembering" to talk to him right? Jesus IS with you all the time. We are to thank Him for EVERYTHING...and pray without ceasing. If He were standing right by you that would not be too hard...right? He is!

Try reading a daily devotional. As you read your devotion pick a new verse each day that speaks to you and carry it with you throughout the day, thinking about what that verse means and how it speaks into your life.
Another suggestion is to pray before reading the Bible or your devotions, this helps too. It adds more prayer time and allows God to open your heart before reading His word. Good luck, God bless!
Listening to Worship music is my favorite way to pray. I sit in His presence and as I worship I turn my words, and thoughts to Him in prayer.

there are times when I just sit alone and reflect on the happenings of the day hoping I did some good. however realize that I have made so many mistakes there is no hope to atone for them. so I just say " I'm sorry " and try to do better the next time.

You don't have to devote your life to praying, and I'm sure god doesn't expect you to 24/7. Chill out dude.

What I do to remember is when something 'good' happens, then i should just stop and say thanks to God. He loves hearing His children thank Him.
