Anyone else have Perintonitis?

My daughter was born 3/10/05. On 3/24/05 I became extremely ill. It turns out, I had peritonitis, which is a potentially fatal infection of the peritonial cavity. I required major sugery and it was a HORRIBLE experience. Usually this infection is a result of a tear in an intestine, ruptured organ (like apendix), or a knicked bowel during surgery.

My birth was non-surgical, my labor was normal. I was just wondering if there is anyone else in the world who had this happen to them???? I've never met anyone and never even been able to find a case on the internet! Anyone??

Here is basic information about it. As a nurse, I saw this painful infection on occasion, oftentimes after automobile accident injuries with abdominal traumas. And, you, poor thing, had all that miserableness during pregnancy! What a shame.

I have had this from a ruptured appendix. I almost died because it caused peritonitis. Sorry that your family and the baby have had to go through this ordeal. I know it was painful. I have never heard of pregnant woman having this before. As you said, it is usually caused by injury or appendicitis. I had a cracked rib from my daughter kicking me while I was pregnant. My sister had my nephew to kick his placenta loose, and she almost bled to death before the doctor figured out what had happened. Odd things happen when we are pregnant.

This is fairly common. One of the causes can be the rupture of a diverticulum in the bowel that no one ever suspected was there. As far as the web there is a ton of stuff try this:
