It really all depends on the earrings, don't you think? Something simple and tasteful is always appropriate. One never wants to overdo.

Not only would you look tacky, but it would hurt doing it, you could become infected and your ears be damaged, or you could snag the things and rip your ears. That would be horribly painful.
Do not ask that it be done.
We four legged people simply must not fall for the glamour trends of two legged ones, opt instead for a jewel studded or decorative collar and shiny leash. That is what I did.

Tacky doesn't matter...injury does though. If you pierce your dogs ears, they will be ripped out within the day. Dogs are rough on their bodies and he won't understand that he shouldn't mess with the earrings.

piercing a dogs ears is a ridiculous though. obviously you have not taken into consideration the fact that if the animal doesn't rip it out by scratching at it that it can get caught on just about anything. come on now use a little common sense. oh wait i forgot not many use that anymore.

It depends what style of earring they make you wear. I hope for your sake they go far a simple stud rather than a hoop. You don't really want to have your mates calling you Barney the Pirate in the park do you?

You'd have one dumb owner and loads of suffering if he pierced your ears.

Would your owner look stupid with a dog collar and a leash in public?

I think it is inhumane to pierce dogs ears .. you could be looking at infections from it also...
