which is the true religion ?

dont you see the difference between saying which is true .... and which is a good religion for you ?
dont you realise that anyone who has religious beliefs ... or a book they follow ... will of course believe that theirs is true also
this does not invalidate your beliefs ... but it does not make others any less valid
how can you profess to know the true religion if everyone else says the same about theirs ?

I really dont mean to disrespect anyone , but would love to hear your answers
please remember not to say because my book says so ... because this is the very point i am making .... there are other books that say so also that are different from your own

This is exactly what led me to step back from religion altogether. I did not lose my belief in God and reverence for Jesus - but it finally occurred to me that true believers of each religion will always think theirs is the "true" religion, and will preach it as fervently as all the others. I decided that there is no "true" and correct religion, and that all (with the exception of hate-based cults, etc.) are valid paths to God.

I posed this question to a friend of mine, who is a very strong Christian, and her answer was along the lines that people of other religions could not argue their faith as passionately or strongly. But she could offer no proof that Christianity was the only way, other than her faith and the Bible.

We're still friends, I respect her beliefs, and would not try to change them.

The true religion is obviously the one that God Himself has revealed.

Yes that does invalidate all others, obviously.

And equally obviously it will bring you into communion with Him which none of the others can.

You are quite wrong to say that no one can profess to know the true religion just because many are falsely professing their religion to be true. False professions do not invalidate the true one and the truth does invalidate all falsity. When once you have the true article then it becomes easy to identify all false ones.

Of course, while you reject the true religion it might seem to you that all have to be given equal consideration but that is quite different to claiming all are equally valid.

All religions must necessarily rely upon their "book." If you reject that then you leave people with nothing but their own opinions. Very wooly headed. That of course is the position that you are espousing - that nobody can know but can only have an opinion. You refuse evidence of authority and will only accept what fits your opinion on the matter.

Your humanism brings you to an absurd position. You must think more clearly. You should not presume your opinion is the best. Do you realise that what you have said makes you guilty of what you accuse others?

No, evidence needs to be received from whatever source and weighed as to its authority and value.

If you continue to insist on rejecting "a book," then perhaps you can take a look at the Man. After all no one can relate to a "book" but all could relate to the Man.

I get the impression that you don't understand the answers that are given to you.

People deserve respect, whatever their beliefs, but when someone asks a pointed question, you have to expect that people will express their beliefs. As a Christian, I put my faith and eternal soul in the hands of the Lord Jesus Christ. You have to understand that when you've had an encounter with Almighty God, and He completely changes your life, it gives you an incredible burden to share this with others which is quite often misinterpreted as intolerance; when it's actually concern for people's eternal well-being. It's a message of caring, that gets weighed down by a lot of things like if God REALLY loved me...? When in fact He loved SO much that He died for the sins of mankind.....how much greater love is known to man?

I'm afraid I don't hold with any 'One True Faith' stuff - I think that people have the capacity to find the write path for themselves, and that you have to allow for them to choose a path that's different to your own.

When you demonise someone for holding different beliefs, you yourself are on the path to fundamentalism. At the same time, you have to be open to questions and points of discussion about your own path, and be accepting of others' opinion about it - at the end of the day, your own path is your own path.

I really think that you should live your life without worrying about such ridiculous rubbish as this....religion is only left over tribal mumbo jumbo that used to be needed by ignorant and unsophisticated people to explain the things that happened to them.
Surly any educated person today cannot truly believe this stuff....its no different from believing in Santa Claus..!!.

Yes I noticed that question a while ago. I smiled at it because there is no one true religion. It is a trick question, or should be considered so. It's unfortunate that so many do believe the one religion that is best for them is THE ONE TRUE RELIGION!!! for everyone. We know that is not so, don't we? HA HA!

Maybe it's possible that what some people call God is a force that touches people in different ways. A direct connection with the Divine is more important to me that what others say I should believe.

Which ever religion feels right for you is the one that is true.
We, of course, will never know which religion is true until our dying day, so I prefer to take bits and pieces of every religion and put it into my own truth which is suitable for me.
It's impossible for every religion to be completely true.
