I've got it bad. I don't use it as a cop out tho or try not to. If I do something wrong its not cause I got ADHD.

Hey I can read three books at the same time, watch a movie and listen to the radio. I can literally get high on ideas. I can switch conversation topics very fast by using a very small link between topics. People are sometimes confused when they realized where we started and where we end up.

I cope by filtering out the rest of the world and on occasion meditation, getting away from it all. I have to be pretty goal oriented. I'm pretty disorganized tho.

Sometimes I use it to my advantage. It allows

Hi Rostov

Here are some ideas to use.

Causes of ADHD/ADD-like Behavior
A variety of factors can cause the hyperactivity symptoms that can lead to a diagnosis of ADHD or ADD. They include undetected learning disabilities, food and environmental allergies, gastrointestinal disorders such as leaky gut syndrome, systemic yeast overgrowth, known as Candidiasis, heavy metal toxicity, poor diet, nutritional imbalances, and emotional upsets such as those caused by family problems. In some cases, the problem can also be due to undetected vision problems, such as the need for eyeglasses for reading. The overuse of antibiotics, as well as vaccines and immunization, can also cause symptoms of hyperactivity and/or ASDHD/ADD. Antibiotics can trigger allergic reactions and cause the gastrointestinal tract to become depleted of healthy bacteria, leading to candidiasis, while vaccines can severely compromise a child's still- developing immune system, and cause other serious health problems, including neurological damage.

Quick Action Plan for ADHD/ADD-like Symptoms

1. Avoid the use of dangerous pharmaceutical drugs, such as Ritalin and Adderal.

2. Recognize that the majority of ADHD/ADD diagnoses are inaccurate, and can be based on little or no scientific evidence.

3. If you, your child or teen suffer from ADHD/ADD-like symptoms, be sure to explore all possible factors that may be causing hyperactivity. Essential to consider is poor diet, nutritional imbalances, undiagnosed learning disabilities and/or vision problems, lack of emotional support, heavy metal toxicity, and food and environmental allergies, all of which should be screened for.

4. Avoid all sugars, wheat products, refined carbohydrates, sodas, processed foods, preservatives, artificial sweeteners, corn syrup, alcohol, and hydrogenated and trans-fatty oils.

5. Avoid foods high in salicylates such as apples, almonds, oranges, peppers, and tomatoes.

6. Emphasize organic fresh fruits and vegetables, organic whole grains such as amaranth and quinoa, organic free-range meats, poultry, and wild-caught fish, and drink plenty of pure, filtered water.

7. Nutritional supplements include vitamin B-complex, vitamin B3, vitamin B6, folic acid, essential fatty acids (EFAs), omega-3 oils, digestive enzymes, and probiotic supplements such as acidophilus and bifidus bacterium, tinctured zeolite and chlorella.

8. Chamomile, linden flower, milk thistle, and red clover may be useful herbs.

9. If heavy metal toxicity is a factor, consider working with a physician trained in the use of chelation therapy.

10. Many excellent books on healing ADHD are available; recommend "Children with Starving Brains" by Jaquelyn McCandless, M.D., and "A Path to Success" by Lawrence Weathers, Ph.D.

I have never been prescribed meds for it, tho a therapist once suggested I might try it... Fired him. I think medication can be a great tool, to help folks learn contols and limits, but ultimately I think meds hobble the ADD/ADHD mind, making it difficult for indivduals to learn how to naturally resolve some of the more challenging aspects about ADD/ADHD, like monopolizing conversations, bouncing around the room into peoples' laps, making EVERYTHING into a joke, nail biting, etc, you know, the kindsa things that make it hard to be taken seriously, have sincere connections, and rewarding relationships... My husband and I both have diagnosed ADHD, AND a toddler... life at our place is rarely boring. I try to be patient, as his ADHD manifests differently than mine. Many folks don't realize how differently it can present itself from person to person, and how easy it is to MISdiagnose it. Folks have misconceptions, and stigmas surround ADHD. I personally deal with mine by trying to have a sense of humor about it; I warn people not to expect TOO much from me, "I may be a genius, but I will almost definitely forget to call you back, and blank that we had plans... it doesn't mean I don't like you, it just means I was probably watching tv, talking to you on the phone, emailing, and reading a book to my daughter when we MADE those plans..." Most of my closest friends know what's up, and tease me harmlessly if I drift off in a conversation, etc... anyone else can take their assumptions and misconceptions and............... huh? No, I'm not watching tv, I promise! What were you saying?

I was diagnosed ADHD too but was misdiagnosed and I am bipolar from which I was told many Doctors go the simple route and misdiagnos bipolar as ADHD.

Do you have mood changes, happy, sad, angry, up really up and positive, creative outgoing and all that good stuff? And then you find yourself down and high anxiety depressed alone like and not know how you got there?

I was ADHD and was on Dexedrine (speed) which I loved... it kept me really even, not speeding like most people but more focused and actually calmer. I kept running into the same brick wall as I always say, it seems as though nothing has changed in my life in over 50 years. I do well succeed really succeed well and then I cant tell you how many times I have gone from rags to riches form great to horrible from up to down. It really sucks.
