It's my belief that FEW people would admit to being atheist if they knew that it would negatively impact them day-to-day...as in when they are in-processing for prison. Also MOST criminals know that they get Sunday downtime and other religious benefits just by checking the "right" box on the in-take form.

The statistic quoted in the "question" is meaningless.

The christian population is too high. Let's bring back the Native American Shamanism like it used to be before the pilgrims landed. That way the Native Americans (like myself) will be happy again.

Wow are your stats wrong.

In 2002 only 0.4% of the population identified themselves as atheist. There may have been more, due to under-reporting, but that is anyone's guess.
