If I send a document that I typed with Wordpad, will the person I sent it to be able to open it as a MS Word document? Is it basically the same?
I do have MS Word on my old computer but since there is no burner on that one and no floppy on this new one, could I still try to copy MS Word on a floppy then send it via email to my new computer and download it that way?
Also, I do have an Office 2000 disc from which I have been trying to download word with, but so far I've just been getting 'error 1305' messages.

Of course. Wordpad is like a junior version of Word. Save as an RTF, and Word will be able to open the RTF. We do it all the time at work. We only have Wordpad on our workstations at the customer counter, but have the Office programmes on our desk machines. We can trad the files back and forth no problem.

Saving it as wordpad can save it as .TXT, text document, or .RTF, rich text file, both of which MS Word can handle. If you are worrying about the floppy, why not take a screwdriver to the floppy drive on the old computer, and install it on your new one?

Most Microsoft computers have wordpad, so you can deliver it in wordpad. Also, the person CAN change the format by right-clicking on an 'Open' menu, by clicking the 'Save As' button with the papers.

As for the error thing, go to Microsoft's home page and maybe they can help.

Hope this helps!

yes. Wordpad (.rtf) files can be opened by Microsoft Word.

"Are they basically the same?"
More or less, they are both word processing programs, wordpad uses .rtf file type and word uses .doc

As far as the "error 1305", please review the following link from microsoft.com
