For gaming go for any LCD with 1080p INPUT and display capability. One of the best is the Sony SXRD rear-projector, but that may be too expensive. You may find a flat-panel LCD for less, but 1080p is still new to these sets and not yet available at lowest cost. However, the appearance of the game graphics really benefits from true 1080p resolution. Sony Bravias are very good. But look at Sharp Aquos as well.

I emphasize the input capability since that is still rare but your Xbox will output 1080p and you should take advantage of that.

I recommend looking into Sony Wega. The size depends on how far you plan to sit from the TV:
20 - 27screen needs 2.5 - 5 feet.
32 - 37screen needs 6 - 8 feet.
42 - 46screen needs 10 - 14 feet.
50+ screen needs 12 - 16 feet.

I agree with the previous poster who recommended it have 1080p, although I don't think it will be possible in your price range. You may have to settle for 1080i, but I don't think you'll be too disappointed. Also insure it has HDMI out. Your picture and audio will be breathtaking.

I have a 34" HD Widescreen Sony Wega 1080i and I am so happy with it. Best picture in the store at the time we got it!

I really honestly think it doesn't matter.....
I'm serious.....

I used to say Mitsubishi and Sony are the best. (They are still)
But the reality is, YOU BUY ANY KNOWN BRAND NAME YOUR DADDY HAD........and it's the BEST Bang for the buck....

Do NOT BUY any barely known name...or CHINESE NAME or weirdly known name like Harley TVs....They make a good motorcycle....but some Chinese company bought the Harley name to put on their TVs...thinking it's good "Brand name" recognition.....LOL.
