this is a term called 'coprophagia' and basically means eating ones own feaces!! yum yum!
this can be normal for some dogs but not something we wont to encourage due to worms, bacteria etc. there are some formulations on the market which stop the animal doing this and basically makes the feaces even less desirable!! see your local vet to see if he/she has anything to offer. i wont quote any as many products vary from area to area depending on company and wholesaler.
a cheap option if the dog will eat it is pineapple. this has a quality within it that once digested the dog will not want to eat it again. i.e poo!!

try the pineapple ive seen good results!!

My dog does the same thing!!
She would run outside and I would throw her the stick.
She would run after the stick, but on her way back, she would take a poop stop. It was gross!
So we did some research, and found that it not the worst thing ever. I'm not sure why she did it, but we would simply sit outside with her, and whenever she tried to eat it, we would yell at her.
It took a while, but now she does not do it, or at least not when I am around.

The important thing to know is that it won't harm her.
Actually, she would only eat her own poop. If your dog is doing THAT, then its nothing to worry about. Poop is just grounded up stuff that was not used inside the body i.e. calcium, vitamens, ect.
I wouldn't worry about it. She should be fine. Just yell at her every time she does it, and eventually she'll realize what she's doing.

But hey, now your dog can truely say, "This tastes like ****!"

I just read on the internet that dogs eat feces because it has something valuable in it. I would read the label of the dog food and see if the food is of high quality. There's some reason why he's doing it.

well, its obvious that your dog is not completely digesting her food. this is usually the result for when dogs eat really fast. so maybe, if you notice this, feed her from your hand, in very small portions slowly. this way the food will get digested. because the food isnt being digested, when your dog poops, its feces still smell and taste pretty good to your dog. so yeah you can go off and buy all the stuff that make their poop taste bad..but pineapple works reallyyyyy well. your dog should eat it and when it comes out the other end (ew i know) it should smell and taste horrible. good luckk!(:

You can try a product called forbid. You sprinkle it on their food as instructed on the packet. It doesn't taste bad on their food but it makes their stool taste bad. It can be purchased at your vets office and maybe even petsmart. Good Luck

It could be that your dog is not getting the proper nutrients in its diet. Try varying the food you give it, or use supplements.

there are things you can get from the vet to sprinkle on the food to stop this.
