both dogs are very loving and excellent in everyway, the only reason i have had to make this decission is due to ill health. i have have the mother since she was 7 weeks old and she is now nine and her daughter is five. they love children and are very good with everyone. nice calm dogs. if anyone can help me with this hard choice i would be most grateful. i live in west sussex. i have to go into hospital for a couple of days but because i have fragile bones. i have made this choice.they must be someone who could give them both a loving home

Have you tried the breed rescue? i'm very sorry for your dilema but it would be best to go the breed rescue route as hard as it is your old girl is going to be very hard to place and it needs a dedicated person which can be found in breed rescue..

I hope you feel better soon how very sad...

You poor dear.Your heart must be broken on top of worrying over your own health.
I'd take them in a second if I had the room and pay their air-fare to America as well but I have my hands full with my own 2 shepherd males ages 2 & 4.
Is'nt there anyone at all you could depend on to keep them while you're in the hospital and come by to exercise them regularly when you come home so you can all be together?I wish I was your neighbor as I'd do just that and make sure they got to the vet as well when necessary.I've done it for others when they were in need. And I can't be the only person in the world with a heart who will go out of there way to help someone who is truly in need of it.Please try to talk to some of your neighbors and see if maybe a couple of them could give you a hand.
At your dogs ages placing them in a new home will not be easy on them and especially if they must be seperated.
I'll remember you and your girls in my prayers.Good luck to you.

i had to rehome my uncles dog because my uncle passed away, i found a lab rescue centre, they were brillant. So there must be a german shepherd rehoming centre, try a google search. Ad-mart.co.uk is a good site to use and local papers so they can stay local, then maybe you can still see them. If not the dogs trust or rspca will be able to help. Put an add in your local news agents.

Good luck, sorry that you have been poorly, hope things get better.

Contact your local German shepherd rescue. They care very deeply for the breed and do a wonderful job of screening possible homes and will place them where they will fit in best.

They really and truly have a special love for the breed and have a great success rate.

I am sorry you are ill and can no longer take care of them, that breaks my heart cause I am close to making the same decision with my dogs.

God love you.

Have you tried getting in touch with a breed rescue group? they can find homes with people who are specifically looking for shepherds. They are a large breed, but lovely dogs..so i doubt you'd have too much finding them a home. If you get Dogs Today magazine, they usually have phone numbers for breed rescues across the country. Good luck..sorry about your ill health...

A pet rescue place is the best place atleast you will be assured that they are going to a good home as they always do house checks before bringing home a pet,i have a GSD and they are wonderful dogs,Im sure they will find a good home and hopefully together as it could be to much for them to lose you and then to lose each other.

That must be heart-breaking for you and you have my sympathy. You have made the right decision though.

Take them into rescue, they'll make sure they get a good home. They sound like wonderful dogs and it shouldn't be too difficult for them to find good homes.

Look on www.dogpages.org.uk for details of rescues. Hopefully if one is full, there'll be details of another that has space.

Oh heck you must be feeling awful! You should post your advert locally then maybe you would be able to see your dogs if you could manage that, I don't think I could. I wish I could take them for you but i've got enough with the 1 GSB. Good Luck, take care with who you place them with. x

Is there nobody in your family who would take them? After all, they'd know them. Maybe a friend or neighbour, at least you could still have contact, try advertising in a local shop, maybe someone local could help you look after them, walking etc.
Just a thought, I know how heart breaking it is to loose a dog.
