My mom's chihuahua still does this sometimes. Usually showing her affection makes her stop--it usually just means she wants to be pet. When she gets super annoying, we let her know! She has a short attention span, but she gets scolded when she overdoes it.

Chis require a ton of attention. They always need to be with someone. That said, it's okay to draw a limit with the dog, just like you would with a child who should outgrow always wanting to sit in your lap!

Good luck.

Before you decide to eliminate your dog's licking, it is important to realize why your dog is doing this. Your dog's licks are his way of telling you that he loves you and that he wants your affection and approval. It is possible that being pushed away after 'kissing' you might make him try harder to lick you, thinking that he didn't deliver his message well enough the first time.

Your dog licks as an assurance, your body gives off so many scents/smells/salts if you have a bath its more noticable for them to lick you its their way of reassuring themselves..

Licking you is her way of giving puppy kisses. She loves you. You should be honored.

she will need to be "trained" to stop. since it was encouraged in the beginning, it will take time and patience
