well let's be honest, there is no way to let anyone down gently, although men act all "macho" they have feelings too, they're not as emotional as women however they do feel and their conscience is very much alive like women, so with that being said I would say a guy would probably approach the situation in a manner like "we can be friends" or "you're a great person but I feel we have such a good connection between us that I would hate to destroy that in any way and I think we should just be friends or whenever you're ready I'd like to continue to keep in touch with you" the best way is to leave the door open to any NEW opportunity, because you never know why she was put in your life, everything happens for a reason, so you meeting her(him) was not a mistake, so look beyond the surface there could be a divine reason for you two meeting. let me know how that turns out. I hope I was of some help to you.

never let a girl down via text msg . In person is the best she will be upset but at the same time respect you for doing it in person. just say your a very nice girl, however at this time I am not looking for a girlfriend etc....

Um. Don't be a jerk and "let her down gently" with a text or an email. Be a man, not a wuss, and tell her to her face.
Jeez...

"I need a break. I still love you but...."
"I need space."
"I'm really stressed right now."
Then they keep in contact every day (as "friends") to keep the girl in turmoil, but they're already looking for (or have met) a new girl.

well if they're the one's asking you out, just say, "Tonight's not really a good night" or if they are telling you that they like you and stuff... just say "you're really nice, but I'm just not into you like that." Idk.. some girls like straight-forward, but I'd rather have a guy kinda ease into turning me down.
