I have found that litter box liners are a definite waste of money, as my cat scratches through it too. Unfortunately, without one, the litter will stick to the box. scrape of as much as you can out of the box, then use a disinfectant to kill any germs still lingering. I use clorox anywhere spray and then i use paper towels to remove any moisture from the box before refilling it. If you find the box still smells after cleaning it, try a spray like Simple Solution to remove the smell. Plastic tends to hold in odors after long periods of time, but the spray will help remove that nasty pee odor.

I use the cat pan liners, they do help with the sticking and the smell seeping into the plastic, yes they get holes in them from the cats digging, but to remedy that, I use 2 grocery bags. What I do is when it is time to change the entire box, I take 2 plastic grocery bags into the bathroom where the catbox is, then pick up the cat pan liner with all the litter and place the whole thing into the grocery bags then any remaining litter in the box, I dump into the grocery bags, then tie up the bags and take them out. It makes for less tracking of dirty cat litter across the floors. I always use 2 plastic grocery bags becase the wieght of the dirty cat litter and there may be a small hole in one of the bags. This reenforces less spilling. Or you can take another garbage bag into where the catbox is, for instance if you're taking your garbage out, just take the garbage into the catbox, change your catbox, put the dirty bag into your garbage bag that you're taking out. Unfortuantely there is nothing you can do about not having claw holes in the catbox liner, so this is probably the best you can do, other than just not having a liner. Good luck.

Unfortunately, because of the nature of plastic litter boxes you are going to have to live with a little sticking. There was a time when we used clay based litter for our cats and just dumped the whole thing out every 3 days or so. On the up side, there was little tracking of the litter out of the box. On the down side, it did smell a great deal no matter how often you changed it. When we moved we had to place the litter in the second bathroom because we had a finished basement that was part of the living area. Now we use Arm & Hammer High Performance. It’s very fine and does track quite a bit but it contains the smell very well. I suggest mixing in some baking soda with the litter to soak up some of the wet that ends up sticking. Liners are useless with cats that have their claws. They just end up tearing it.

I would try to use a litter that clumps really well so you can scoop out the cat urine because that is the stinkiest. When dumping old litter double up the bag. Use two grocery bags to hold the unwanted litter than dispose of in a large trash bag. I use gloves to help me. I also take the litter box outside once empty and put a little bleach or cleaner in it. I wash around then pour it out in asafe place example

I usually put baking soda in the box. I don't use clumping cat litter do to some findings my mom experienced as a vet tech. Over time the clumping cat litter sits in the cats intestinal track and creates a blockage which needs to be sugically removed. The reason for this is that the moisture from the bodily fluids from the cat makes the litter "clump" in the cat. How do they get it in thier system? From cleaning themselves.
I prefer Cats Pride kitty litter. You can find it at any store. I have 7 cats and clean the boxes throughly every week and scoop at least 3x a week. With 7 cats I still experience the kitty litter sticking to the bottom. That's what a pooper scooper is for. Just scrape the bottom and clean with hot water and dish detergent.

I had the same problem, I just gave up the plastic bag thing. I tried putting the white sheets you use in the oven, and its easier to clean it up...as long as your cat doesnt kick out part of the sheet...i have 3 cats so it didnt work for me...now what i do is simply scoop it like one of twice a day...and every 2 days (since i have 3 cats)...i empty the whole box...and i put on gloves and rince the litter box then wash it with a tiny amount of ''parisienne'' javex which cost like a dollar for the entire bottle...it kills the germs and its not as much pollution as using the plastic bags (with holes)...

if you have a basement i think the javex thing is the best solution...but it might be harder if you live in a small apartment...

I use Tidy Cat for multiple cats, I have one cat at this time . I use 2 litter boxes in a walk in closet and about 2 inches of clay type litter in each box. I pick the solid waste every day and stir the litter at that time.
On trash day I empty one box and poor a little Clorox ....(not the scented type, citrus etc.) and water in the box, let it stand in the bathroom a few minutes , swish it with the toilette brush dump it down the toilette and rinse and it is good for another week. The next week I totally empty the second box.
I've used both types of litter and found the clay one with this method is the cheapest and leaves no odor EVER.. Good Luck

If you don't have a lot of cats and you clean the box frequently, you don't have to put anything on the bottom. Use clumping cat litter and clean up as soon as the box is used. Fresh step scoop works well and I have never had any sticking problems.

Bathtubs are porcelain and surely washable. The drain capture has minute quantities of sewer gas coming up, it rather is why maximum cats will use a shower over something else (it smells like poop). purely upload a 2nd container, fill in basic terms a million" extreme in the two packing packing containers so which you're unlikely via as plenty clutter at a time. The clumping clutter holds the urine balls which retains the urine scent from accomplishing the backside of the container. via alternating the packing packing containers, your cat can consistently have 'sparkling'. we've 4 cats, I scoop it 4 circumstances an afternoon on well-known, every time I see that the exterior has been disturbed. It takes maybe 40 5 seconds, total, out of my day.

personally I never use a liner for exactly the reasons you cited. I used clumping litter, it reduces or eliminates odor, and if you feel the need to wash the sides of the box, have two, and alternate one to clean and one for the cats to use. If you wash it and are using clumping litter, make sure the box is completely dry before you put the litter in it.
