Why stick even with the 10 Commandments? All we need are the two commandments: Love the Lord your God with all your mind, all your heart, all your soul, and all your strengh; love your neighbor like yourself. And as Jesus says, this is just a condension of the entire rest of the Bible. So you could take the rest of the Bible or leave it, the message still ought to be the same. It shouldn't change Christianity, and to a large degree I think it wouldn't; people would just keep on doing what they've always done.

this is why it was done away with. Hebrews 8:6,7,13 ...He [Christ] is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises. For if that first covenant [the Law of Moses] had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second....In that He says, "A new covenant," He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
Hebrews 9:15-18 And for this reason He [Christ] is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is in force after men are dead, since it has no power at all while the testator lives. Therefore not even the first covenant was dedicated without blood.
Since Christians are not under the Law of Moses today (only Jews ever were), we are not under the Ten Commandments written in the Law. Christians today are to follow Jesus Christ. Since He Himself reinstated all but one of the Ten Commandments (the Sabbath), Christians are obligated to obey nine of the Ten Commandments.

It would change Christianity profoundly. There would be no Christians, they would all be Jewish. Believing in the Messiah is what us Christian. And Jesus also told to us that even to think of coveting your neighbors wife was the same as doing the deed. That applies to all of the commandments. To take away the bible and try to live with only the 10 commandments would drastically change Christianity, but if it could be that simple one would think that the religion would be less political.

I think you are missing the point of the 10 Commandments relative to Christianity. They exist to show that no mere man can ever be good enough to deserve to get into heaven on his own merits (for what man has not ever violated just one of the big 10). Thus, they point the way to Christians' understanding that they need something beyond themselves to justify their entry into Heaven -> that being Jesus and his substitutionary death on the cross.
At the same time, they are guidelines to living a good Christian life. But realize that no Christian will be in full compliance with them. So when Christians violate them (and they will), it is only a surprise to non-believers who don't understand the role of the 10 Commandments.
And without the Bible, there would be no Christianity.

I don't even think Christians should recognize the Bible, I think they should just take the teaching from Jesus and put into their own book. Because a lot of what Jesus preaches about is in opposition to what God does before the birth of Christ. Jesus seemed to be about love and tolerance, where as the God in the rest of the Bible tends to be mean, vengeful and jealous. At one point in the 10 commandments God even admits to Mosses that he is a jealous God. Most of the other stuff was taken from Jewish writings.

What difference would it make. We do have the bible and we still have the ten comandments and this world is still following satan for the most part. The strength and power of a person's faith depends on how much you put into it. If you cave in every time you come across hard times and go on a self pitty trip, your faith will soon crumble and turn to mush.
But if you take all your hard times and use them as a spritual work out, and allow those times to strengthen your faith, you are limitless as to what you and Jesus can accomplish together, if faith the size of a mustard seed can move a mountain. Imagine what your growing strength through your times of trials can accomplish with Jesus in the lead. Praise the Lord!!

First of all that's Old Testament Law, which we are not bound by. We are now, since Christ's death and resection, bound in the New Testament. Love your neighbors as you love yourself, do to other as you would have them do to you, tithe, do not forsake the gathering of yourselves together(Paul so don't know if it counts). The Bible is a guide book which is the Word of God . Can bring us closer to Him, shows us the way to live, brings us in to His presence.

The Ten Commandments are not the be-all and end-all of morality. In fact, they're not particularly good guide at all. As far as I'm concerned, I will covet my neighbor's ox any time I want!
