Catholics still do that.

Yes, all generations shall call Mary 'blessed" because of the purpose she served as the Mother of Christ - having been a young girl and a virgin and told that she would bear a child when she had not had sex, In those days - she could have been stoned - especially since she was betrothed to Joseph and he had not touched her. Think of the humiliation she could have suffered - but for the grace of God and the delivery of the truth by the angel to Joseph. she was saved and santified and set aside for such a time as this. So, she is called blessed. But Praise God - she did her part - and the true miracle, the real blessing for all of us is that JESUS WAS BORN!

Mary, as blessed, did not come till much later. The church in Ephesus could not get people to convert. The people held fast to their goddess, Diana, and were well entrenched in their goddess concept.
Mary was seldom mentioned in the Bible. But, the church decided to ''upgrade'' her to closer to the goddess concept, and slowly move her in and Diana out, so the people would follow the church.
With time this did happen, and Mary became an important part of church dogma.

Not all Christian sects pray to Mary as the Catholic and Orthodox churches do, but I'd say that pretty much all Christian groups do hold her in a high level of respect and recognize the honor that she was given.

I agree that Mary was blessed with being able to give birth to the Christ child. Of course, but in Matthew chapter 5 Jesus said that anyone who is poor in spirit, who mourn, who are meek, who are hungry and thirsty for righteousness, who are merciful, who are pure in heart, who are peacemakers, who are persecuted because of righteousness, is Blessed. So in other words we can all be blessed. Rahab the harlot was also remembered in history because of her faith. But we dont pray to her or lift her up as a divine mother. That is not scriptural. God Bless you

She's more blessed than I am. Most Christians have forgotten about Mary, but if you ask them they will say "Oh yes, she's blessed." But you shouldn't pray to her, okay?

Once Jesus formed His church and He was crucified and resurected, our foucs is on Jesus and not on His mother mary. We know that she was the chosen one, who concieved Jesus by way of the Holy Ghost.
Now all of our focus is to be on the word of God in obedience to it, and for us to spread God's word with others, getting everyone prepared for the return of Jesus at the rapture.
For all generations to call Mary blessed is to know that she was the mother of Jesus, and nothing more. I am greatful to her for that gift of her baring her son Jesus for the sins of this world.

Obviously, the Church which compiled the book still does everything that the book reveals as the will of God.

All Christians do. I don't see anywhere in that scripture where it says to pray to Mary though.
