They ran from Korea, Vietnam and now they are getting ready to run from Iraq. Why?

Ask a marine that question face to face,you'll probably be picking yourself up off the ground.
Its the politicians. The Democrats have been demanding we get out of Iraq and they took the last election as a mandate by the people to get our troops out now.
Viet-Nam was the Democrats war,but they didn't do anything to win it and they didn't try to get us out either. It was Richard Nixon who tried to win it,but managed to get us out.
Korea was supposed to be a United Nations peacekeeping mission and some other nations sent troops to.
Lyndon Johnson,the president during the Viet-Nam war tried to run the war personally and the democratic controlled congress put restraints on the military that kept them from doing their job.
Our military forces are not mindless war machines,they have to answer to civilian authority and politicians who have not served in the military.

They didn't give up on any of those. The country gave up. The last time I checked the Marines weren't training to be police. They are trained to fight an war against an enemy.
Tell the congress to cut the Marines loose and allow them to destroy the enemy and their cities...the war would be over in weeks.
Problem is they are standing around with the people while the bad guys are sneaking around killing and blowing them up. We should NEVER mix with the people or the former people of the enemy.
If we setup separate bases away from the towns, we could secure them and our deaths would be almost zero. Its when we try not to kill the civilians that we get hurt.

Wow what a statement I hope there are no marines in the room with you right now. I now many marines and they are easily the toughest guys on the planet. Believe me they are not running from anything they just have to do what the leadership tell them.

Why don't you come down here and see me some time, I have some friends that I want you to discuss that with who served in Vietnam and Iraq. I will not intervene and they tell you why they are always four wheeled drive in reverse.

I don't seem to recall the Marines running from a war. Not once, I do recall them being forced to withdraw by the cowardly and corrupt politicians that we allow to boss them around.
