The English word Antichrist is taken from the Greek αντίχριστος antíkhristos, which literally means "instead of Christ". In the Bible, the term itself appears only in 1 John and 2 John.

It is important for every one to know what antichrist is and make sure they are not any part of it and the bible tells every body every thing and the antichrist has been here since Jesus ascended back to heaven just as the beast and the false prophet has been here in every generation.

I never could figure that out. I'm thinking perhaps the anti-Christ is just some made-up bogey man.

In the holy symmetry of the Bible everything has to have an opposite. So they came up with the idea of anti-Christ, but likely it's just an allegory, representing everything that is antithetical to Jesus.

Revelations speaks of the antichrist, buit it does not give specifics, like when he will come, what he will look like, etc. It does say that the world will trust him, and that he will be a very likeable and powerfuil person...but wicked as well.
