Tonight is the last night the father of my children will be living here for a while. We aren't splitting up, it's because of a new job offer. Anyways, I want to put our Christmas tree up and decorate it tonight. We do this every year as a family. He decided he doesn't ant to because it's his last day here. How can I get his help?

Make sure he knows that it is very important to you and the kids if he still doesnt want to help then turn on some christmas music and have as much fun with the kids as possible that will make him feel left out and like a jerk. Then when your done act as if everything is great and have the kids show him the pretty tree. Dont let it riun your holiday and its not enough to let him leave mad at you or you mad at him. If hs totally against even you doing the tree then find something else to as a family and make sure you send him lots of picture of what he missed out on.

Do the children want to put up the tree,or do they want to spend the day with their father who will be away for a wile ? Think about.....If he wants to spend time doing some thing with his children or put up the tree... Either way there doing some thing together.....

Hope it works out!

Maybe he is depressed about leaving? It can't be easy leaving his family. Explain to him how important this is to the kids. Perhaps you can just start the tree, and finish it tomorrow. That way he can spend the night with the kids.

Give him a bottle of beer and while he is watching the football game, just start decorating the tree in fron of him, and dont ask him for help and puposely mess it up, and act like you are struggling with it, and act helpless like a little girl, He will get the hint, and eventally help you, if he loves you, he would get the hint, and help you
