iam in a pickle, I need someones advice here, I sarted to be friendly to a 30 year old girl who is mentally retarded, slow, She lives in a home for retarded citizens, She told me at the busstop one day, that she told her councelors she wants nothing to do with them, and that she is packing her bags and she walked out, She insist she has the money and she can live on her own, She fired just about all her councelors, She then gave me a 3o thousand dollor phone bill from cell phone t mobile, she asked me to help her make payments I cant , but how do i explain this to the t-mobile company, this girl has no one, she wants and wishes to be living on her own, her own apartment her own stuff, The local authorites are keeping a watchful eye on her, but they cant arrest her, She was billed over 30 thousand dollors for a cell phone

I would contact your local state authorities, there is usually a section where they just serve disabled people like your friend and tell them that this girl desperately needs help. I would like to know why tmoblie gave her a phone in the first place? She should have had to go through a credit check and everything. and I have never heard of a cell phone being $30,000! That's insane that tmobile let it go on that long before shutting it off! I would also call tmobile and tell them that this young lady is mentally retarded and in no way makes enough money to ever pay off this bill and you are unsure of how she got the phone in the first place. Also there are programs in every state that can help her out financially and allow her to still live on her own. There may even be a way for her to have someone to come in and check in on her everyday to make sure she is ok and everything is going well.

what in the world !!!! how can someone rack up a bill that large? If she has no one who was she calling? I am not a insensitive person,, in fact just the opposite but if I were you I would back off from this girl, SHE belongs in a group home. that is why we have so many homeless people in the states is because , the authorities who should be helping our mentally handicap are not!! I realize that the handicap has rights, they at times will get themselves in alot of trouble , they need supervision and the state will let them slip through the system,, this makes me so mad , as I feel very sorry for this girl ... as i said you need to let it go.tell her she needs to go back to her group home... good luck and God Bless you for being concerned for her

The only thing that I can think of is to talk to a lawyer and maybe she should file for bankuptsy cause thats the only way she can get rid of that phone bill SS hun good luck

I know other retarded people that work in stores such as Goodwill, and work the cash machines and handle money. This girl is somehow really challenged, she needs more than a job, maybe a miracle!

Don't get involved in this before they hold YOU responsible. That's what these counselors are for. If she sees that she can't make it on her own, then she'll go back to them. These people need to be dealt with firmly. STAY OUT OF IT! I used to work with them. I know what I'm talking about!
