We have a daycare in the home and we want to get a puppy. We want a smaller one that isnt real jumpy.

Well, you need one that is good with kids. Try a retreiver.

Go to petfinder.com and look at all the breeds. Most listings have their own website to research if this particular breed is the best in certain circumstances. You also have other factors to consider. Just because a pet is listed that likes kids, you'll have more than one or two for the dog to contend with. I suggest researching each type before making a lifetime commitment and being disappionted and worse, making the dog be turned over to another humane society because he/she didn't "fit" the needs of the family business.

i would not get a terrier or a herding dog...Terriers are very hyper and can have very high pitched barks that may irritate the kids...herding dogs are neurotic and will "herd" the children and may bite them if the kids dont go where the dog wants them...thats if they arent trained properly. i would go for a lab or maybe a shih tzu or maltese or something. They are very calm and arent very bitey dogs. Goodluck!

A retieiver is too big. Beagles are great with kids & are loyal & loveable.
