Hypothetical question:
If the US military, CIA or whoever determined that they was the best ever chance of capturing or killing Bin Laden next week, but it would mean a massive reinforcement of the troops in Afghanistan.
The problem is that it would mean pulling the bulk of the US troops out of Iraq, creating even more choas in order to achieve that goal.
The President asks you for your advice.
Do you say:
A. Shift the boys to Afghanistan - we can always go back into Iraq at a later date.
B. Keep the troops in Iraq. That is more important, even if it means Bin Laden escapes.
C. Some other answer.
Remember, although it's a hypothetical question it doesn't mean you can call the President a idiot.

It is more important that stability is built in Iraq. We want Bin Laden, but he's just one guy. In fact, Kaleed Sheik Muhammad, the actual mastermind of 9/11 has been captured years ago. Bin Laden is just money and a figurehead. He is dangerous and needs to be captured, but it is more important that stability is brought to the middle east.

Good hypothetical, however, you neglect to state "important to whom". The answer is supposed to be A, if Bin Laden weren't a tool of the US as he has been for over 20 years, just like Saddam before him. As Bush has other concerns than the safety and security of the US, he'd do what he see fit.
No matter what you suggest to the President, if it goes against his stated objectives and ordered agenda, then he will disregard you without a thought. Never forget, A) we let Bin Laden escape twice already and B) although we like applying "harsh interrogation" techniques to unimportany pee-ons, we allowed the best chance of "bargaining" or interrogating subjects (the Bin Ladens in America) leave shortly after 9/11.
If you seriously believe the USG has you best interest in mind, then I got a bridge to sell you...it connects Brooklyn and Manhattan.....

Keep troops in Iraq. A report submitted by West Point says Bin Laden doesn't have any power any longer. I think he is dead.

If bin laden was captured, there would be nothing else to go to war over. For as long as Bin Laden is free, we can blame terror on anyone else and claim that they are associated with bin laden.

Well I would have to consult my general officers that make up the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and then follow their best advice. The Bush administration would stand around with it's thumb up it's butt until neither will work.

We already won in Iraq. We achieved our objective of toppling Saddam and planting a new government. It's now an OCUPATION, and we should not be occupiers.
