This doesn't apply only to men. It can apply to anyone.
People sometimes take things, circumstances and people for granted, they loose the attitude of gratitude and feel entitled to people and things in their life. When they feel that the world owes them and take things for granted, they behave in an ungracious manner that pushes people and opportunities away. Before they know it, the good things are gone and they are left with their ungrateful selves missing what they lost.
