Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aMQcT
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

First off I am assuming (a dangerous thing to do) that you know enough to have a fence.
Second if your dog is digging out, dig a shallow row about two foot wide at the base of the fence all the way around your yardband attach some chicken wire to the bottom of the fence and then bury the chicken wire. Dog won't be able to dig out.
Third if dog is a fence jumper you can either raise the fence or attach fencing at the top that will hang towards the inside of your property, that will prevent fence jumping over or crawling over.

People want to say its cruel to use an underground electric fence but my parents have used one for years and I strongley think its a good method. The dog coller beeps before it will shock, giving the dog the chance to decide weather to keep going or not. Dogs are pretty smart, my moms dogs know when they have the coller off and will leave the yard knowing that they cant be shocked. Its a lot more cruel to keep a dog chained up or to let him get hit on the road than it is to use the fence.

A Fence would be a good start
You do realise that you are responsible for the dog even when it leaves your yard. Many areas have leash laws or "voice control" laws. If something ever happened and your dog bit someone or damaged something..it's your fault...period.

You could always train the dog yourself. All you have to do is associate something unplesant with the permiter of the property. In no way do I condone the abuse and/or mistreatment of animals, however, I have seen instances where pet owners have agressively "trained" their dogs and cats to not run away by finding ways to make them afraid of going anywhere near the street or the sidewalk. When I was a kid, I attempted to carry my neighbor's cat from his yard across the street to the playground where everyone else was playing but the cat did not want to go. He fought and scratched and wrestled with me the whole way to the curb. Eventually he got away and ran back to the house. Later I learned that my friend's father used to terrorize the cat on the sidewalk to the point where the cat began to associate the sidewalk with unplesant circumstances.

A fence is the best place to start. I do not recommend eletric fences because it's cruel, shock therapy is never nice! There are also several books you can read to help you learn how to train your dog, available at any library if you don't want to buy it. Regardless, it's up to you to train the dog. He isn't going to know automatically to not do it! Neutering or spaying will help tremendously as well. Here's some sites to go to for information on training:

have a fence? if not, your pretty much stuck. dogs CAN learn their territory, but it's very hard and time consuming. Electric fences sound cruel, but they r not. It's like someone poking you to get your attention and you only need it for about 2 weeks and the dog will know "if i go any farther...."
