An atheist was having a very hard time in life through events that were no fault of his own. Different Christians came to his rescue and helped him with many monetary and task oriented things he needed desperately. They didn't preach to him but merely helped and went on their way. He lost any animosity he had ever had against Christians. Questions--Do you think he will become a Christian? Do you think he will stay an atheist but have warm feelings toward all Christians?

They didn't help him as Christians. They helped him as fellow human beings which is what all of us should strive for. Religion is merely divisive, It's what we have in common that we should focus on. We're here, we are alive, and we don't know everything about who what or where we are... so what!? that's a good thing it's a reason to exercise our minds and really find the answers to the questions that remain, not just to make them up.

I can't speak for the man in your story as i really know nothing about him. However personally, if this happened to me, i would be thankful to the PEOPLE who helped me and i could care less what part their religion played in it.

Sadly, there is no clear cut answer to this question. It's a wonderful question, I'll admit. It depends on the atheist and that person's view point on life and other people.

Case in point: I have a friend who absolutely hates Christians because of what they've done in the past. Not only from what they've done to people in the old days, but also how they've made her feel unwelcome. I am the only Christian she knows that she actually likes. Sadly, she hates Christianity so much that she'll never convert just because of my kindness.

Btw, I love lady_s_hazy's response. I agree completely. Besides, actions should be what is important when it comes to converting someone, not the religion and preaching. Preaching usually just turns people away. That's why Jesus said, "Love your enemies."

You could ask the same questions using anything. A Christian having a hard time and atheists came to his aid. A Muslim having a hard time and a Wiccan came to his aid. A Buddhist having a hard time and a Scientologist came to his aid.

Chances are, he's not going to change who he is or what he believes but he will have just enriched his life by having met some new friends.

Sometimes its hard to change what people believe in. This is their choice, and they will probably stay the same.,..but have warm feelings for that Christian.

Some very lovely answers here. Only he will know what he feels in his heart but he won't forget the kindness and everyone involved will be better for this exchange.

I think this person will want to know what makes these people kind but only God knows the true answer to your question of what He becomes God knew us before we were in the whom and God knows what we will do before we do it so what his end outcome in life will be only God knows but we should show love to our fellow man because they are our fellow man not because we hope for anything in return

to thine own heart be true as this person needs to do what he believes in his heart is the correct thing. this could be a fill in the blank as the same thing could be said of a Muslim, a Jewish Person, an Islamic Person, a Buddha, etc. the Religion of a person doesn't matter but rather what that person believes in their heart.
