I really want a puppy but my dad is allergic, and he wont go on allergy pills, how can I convince him, I just want a companion, to love and hold, please help!

I can speak from experience, you have an allergy to an animal and aren't on medications to control it, the dander can be a nightmare on you! Puffy eyes, trouble breathing, coughing, itchy skin, etc. It's NOT fun. If your Dad is allergic and doesn't want the pet, that's a pretty good reason! I wouldn't push the issue but I can say from experience also that medications do work if you find the right one to be. Don't bug him about it but asking nicely and reminding him that medications do work might work in the future. Otherwise, sounds like you may have to wait until you move out on your own.

Tell your dad that getting a puppy would probbaly be good for the family. Having a pet makes one's life longer and happier. Tell your dad that if you get the puppy, then everyone's life would probably be happier, and if he went on the allergy pills, then all that happiness stuff wuold be able to happen.

Having the puppy also means responsibility, which means taking your allergy pills.

i agree that a puppy is soo awesome , but u don't want to hurt ur dadd and make him sneeze for u to have a pup. try getting a cat or rabbit. i have a rabbit which almost no one is allergic to. he's sosoo cute. get a netherland dwarf rabbit because they never grow any more than the size they already are

does he have allergies to anything else? i am allergic to all that 'good' stuff too - feathers, grass, pollen, pet dander, even cleaning products (the smells) oh, and cigarette smoke......
more than likely he has other allergies. scope him out and convince him that he needs meds for other stuff too.
by the way.... I have FOUR Pomeranians they even sleep with me- no allergy problems!!!

Do you know a dog could kill your dad. Think of something else, you are not being very smart, there are lots of other things that you can obsess over. Think about your dad. A dog can stop his breathing and he'll die. Allergic pills, how about you stop being so evil...

Have you all looked into dogs whose hair is extremely similar to human hair. My little cousin had a huge hairy dog but had to get rid of him because of severe allergies. Her mom bought her a Yorkshire Terrier and she has no problems. Their hair and dander are similar to humans.

I am allergic to dogs and cats too.....theres a dog we CAN have, it is a poodle, they dont have danger or dog hair.I love having a dog, but if your dad is allergic then wait until you have your own place to get a dog. It is not fair to dad otherwise.

There are lots of differnt animals you could choose from. Do your research and come up with a few differnt options and maybe your dad will be ok with that.
