If they form in a cicle around the coloured part of your eye - get a cholesterol test as they can be a sign of hypercholesterolaemia.
You should always see your optician/opthalmologist/doctor about any unusual condition.

are they actually IN your eyes? If so, they're probably called 'floaters' which are harmless pieces of membrane from inside the eye. Check with an optician if they suddenly get worse but it is normal to have some 'things' floating about and it seems worse if you are looking at a light background

i think, but i'm not sure, that they are the remainders of a membrane that covered the eyes when in ours mother's womb. and they're harmless. i can't remember where i heard this though.
