I am a single parent of three and I attend college full time. My university says they take into account that I have kids but it dosen't feel that way. I have taken out a loan b/c I commute and hour each way to school if I did recieve a refund I never knew about it. I think my award was like 5,000 last semeter and I still had to use a loan and I owe the univerity 1,900 dollars before I can back in the spring. This sucks to have this happen during your senior year!

The amount of money that YOU, yourself, will receive will be different depending on the different schools that you are planning on attending.
The amount of money that you receive is based on your EFC (Estimated Family Contribution), which is figured out by the government when you will out the FAFSA. If you are not planning on going to school until Fall 2007, you won't be able to fill out the FAFSA until January 1, 2007 at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
When the government comes up with your EFC, the school and the government will try to come up with the rest of money. Therefore, you'll have to come up with the EFC yourself and the government and the school will try to come up with the rest.
To get an idea of what your EFC will be, you can fill out of form on the following page for an estimate:
http://www.finaid.org/calculators/finaidestimate.phtml
You'll have to provide some estimated income information and then it will let you know what your EFC should be.
I hope this helps

I went through college as a single mom. It will depend on the school you attend also.
I attended a community college for my 2 year degree. All my tuition and books were covered and I got about $1000 "refunded" to me each semester. (this is the amount that was an overage).
My next degree was not so easy to get. God luck to you.

When you complete the fafsa application, you can determine what you are eligible to receive for school. Financial aid awards can vary from person to person.
