Some cages have supported wire sections for this. Look to see if your cage has a small section like a door, but still with wires. If so check the size of the hole in the nest box.. Place the nest box against the cage lining the door up with the possible door section to see where you can place your screw hooks on the box so they will clip on the support wire.

once you're sure, take wire cutters and clip the wire section out where the door will go. Then hang the box back on the cage. Put bedding in it and let the birds do the rest.

The box can be attached to the outside of the cage. Open the top door and line up with the box entrance. A new door can be made for an old cage by removing enough bars and making the new door with rod and solder. If the cage is big enough put the box in the tray inside the cage. With a cockatiel it doesn't have to be fancy because they are not fussy like some birds about the boxes.

Is the cage large enough for this nesting box? They're pretty big! We just put the nesting box in a corner on the cage floor, and they knew what to do! It's easier for the babies to explore too, once they hatch...put a feeding and water dish nearby, with some bright toys. Once the babies hatch, keep an eye on them daily, sometimes the nesting material can wrap around their little legs and you'll need to unwrap them. Also, sometimes even the best mamma will decide to hurt her babies after a couple weeks, be prepared to handfeed or know someone who will handfeed the babies for you!

You usually need to get a cage that is designed with a door for the nesting box.
