Try warm milk with honey. Make sure you aren't drinking or eating anything caffeinated before bed, and don't excercise before bed, either.

Yeah..I have the same problem. Nothing anybody said worked for me, Im up all night. The thing is you have to be sleeping sometime so Im assuming you're sleeping during the day. When it is about time for you to fall asleep, dont let yourself. Do whatever it takes to stay awake until its near night time, then you'll fall asleep and hopefully wake up at a decent morning hour. Also its proven that people sleep better when theyre colder. Turn down the heat, get a fan, do something to make yourself cool (or slightly cold). Also try white noise. Dont sleep with the tv on because you'll be trying to watch it while you sleep. I use a fan. I cant sleep in complete silence. I need a fan going even if its not pointed at me. Something you can stand the sound of, that'll just become background noise after a while, and wont hold your attention (so youre not trying to pay attention to it instead of sleeping). Also, this is just a little quirk for me but when its thundering out, I sleep like a baby. Have you ever tried nature cds? a rain storm or a water fall (which could be white noise) might also help you sleep. try getting a sleeping mask to block out any light, and good luck.

I found that it was anxiety that was keeping me up at night. Try drinking Tension Tamer tea by Celestial Seasons or talk with your doctor about a possible anti-anxiety med to take before bedtime. The med that I take changed my life. I feel so much more alive and I am able to sleep through the night. Another option would be to go for a brisk walk around 7or 8pm then take a shower and do something quiet for an hour or two before bed. The walk will get rid of the pent up energy, the shower will relax you and the quiet activity will lull you. Hope you have some good rest soon!!

First of all, don't try too hard to sleep. The more you try the more you can't sleep. You could be stressed about something without even knowing, perhaps that's why you can't sleep. Try to meditate in bed, not sleep. Just concentrate to a spot between your eyebrows as you lie in bed. If any thoughts come in your mind, don't push them away but let them fade away and just peacefully continue on concentrating. Most likely, you will fall asleep meditating. You can also try sleeping with a window slightly open even if it's very cold, this will let in fresh air and help you sleep better. Also, don't eat anything 2 hours before bed, your body should be comfortable, and your room temperature shoulnd't be too warm. If these still don't work, try keeping a diary and writing your worries/concerns and stresses, and work out ; these may help you deal with stress.

Stay away from activities that excite you like singing, watching a movie and other things you described...sometimes it just takes good old determination if nothing else works. You can't change your pattern over night....in about a week or so of trying you should see some results

insomnia sux. I will take benadryl, I've had meds prescribed by my doctor also. are you drinking too much caffeine during the day or close to bedtime? stressed? is this something that is recent or going on for a long time? check with your doctor. the other thing that may work is melatonin, it's a natural herb for helping with getting to sleep and this works great too. find it at the natural food stores. good luck and get some sleep

Maybe the reason why you can't sleep at night is because you are not really active during the day. Try developing an exercise program or get out and do lots during the day that will make you sleep at night.

Is your enviornment quiet? Do you sleep during the day? That is one of the main problems that people can't fall asleep at night. I think you should try an electric blanket and a quiet room. This should probably help.

Put on your favorite radio station/CD on repeat, and have it on very quietly, but loud enough so you and only you can hear it, soif you stepped out of the room it wouldn't be heard. I always do this when I can't sleep or if I'm having a bad nightmare. It works like a charm.

keep inactive at least one hour before bed. not too much stimuli, have a bath shower etc. no caffeine, tea or sugar one hour before bed. also a lettuce sandwich around an hour before bed helps the lettuce has sleeping qualities with in it that acts as a natural sleep aid. the bread will stimulate the digestive system to work so moving blood supply the digestive tract making you sleepy. (we all get tired after lunch time!)
and finally defiantly no cigarettes, alcohol, drugs etc one hour before bed.
