Hi, I wonder what you guys think of that? English is not my first language and I always find it strange how easily the word is used in the English language. e.g. That's 4,50 , love. / Alright, my love? On the phone the phrase "love you, bye" is just as common as "How are you" / Couples telling eachother after one week that they love eachother / Everyone seems to love everyone/thing , the word like is not used that much anymore.
What do you think of this? Are my observations wrong? Do you have any explaination for this? Or do we have just another form of culture clash here?

yes I feel they do , it has become a generic term that has lost its true meaning ........ love is a splendid thing and I highly doubt that people tossing the word around really know the true meaning or feeling of love .........

Personally, I don't think the word is used enough. People have decided on different ways of using it and apparently to say "Love you" as a form of goodbye does not translate to "I love you," as many have been quick to explain when their girlfriend/boyfriend responds with the latter. If you are more than an acquaintance with someone and you do not hate them, I would presume you feel at least some sort of love toward them, whether friendly or intimate.
So no, I don't think love is used too easily. I think people create different connotations for it so they can avoid the real meaning. Personally, I wouldn't feel at all uncomfortable telling a boyfriend I loved him. Even if it's not love of my life, omg-let's-go-elope-right-now kind of love, it's still a type of love and I'd want him to know that. People need to know that they're cared about sometimes. : )

it does water it down
on the other hand... I prefer that over the opposite a cold icy way of tereating eachother.. I prefer how Americans are more emotional than the Brits for example ..socially speaking

It is a little overused, I suppose. It depends on the person, i suppose it can mean different things in different situations.

well...english is not my first language either...its hindu and then english...but i do think LOVE is used by english people easily....because people go out together and have love...or jus loving ur family could be one.....love is love and it is everywhere around u....anywhere. have u heard of something when anything is all around u? well thats wat love is....

hmmm, well I use the word LOVE only when i mean it. because this word has got meaning which is as deep as a sea.
