Definitely not. I wouldn't even buy it. I mean a mechanic can quickly pick out all the things "wrong". A dealer has his own mechanic, so he knows that they KNOW what to look for. He's scared he'll lose a deal......he's not worried about you being satisfied. If he was selling a pretty good car, he wouldn't care WHO you got to look it over.

NO WAY! I used to sell cars and that's how I know. There is no reason you shouldn't be able to let someone (mechanic of your own/whoever) look over the vehicle. In fact, I wouldn't even tell the salesman that you are doing that. Just ask to take the car over night to see if you really like it. Then, have someone look at it while you have it. He doesn't even have to know you did it. Hope this helps!

no there must be something wrong with the car if he will not let your mechanic look at it he wants to sell it to someone who is well not car savy and rip them off so if you want to buy a used car go to an honest dealer that will let your mechanic look at the car

No, I would not buy it. I have bough several used cars and have always taken them to my mechanic before the purchase. I would assume if I couldn't that there was something wrong with the car they weren't telling me.

If I was trying to sell you a house, and refused to let a home inspector in to evaluate it, would you buy it?

If I wanted to sell you a puppy, but refused to let your vet give it a clean bill of health, would you buy it?

What's the difference between that, and your question?

RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!!

Hell no! And if he DOES agree make sure it is a mechanic that YOU know, not somebody he lines up.

Tell him to take his car and shove it up his bootie.
