Is Win98SE available anywhere for free or cheap, via download or otherwise?

I have an old computer that originally came with Win 98. (It only has 192K of memory) I later upgraded it via download to Win98 SE. Then, I had some software problems and MS phone help told me I needed to wipe out most of my apps and the operating system and reinstall the opearating system from the my hard disk. This apparently installed Win98, but not SE. Now there are applications and devices I can't use. Any help would be appreciated.

u need a major UPGRADE. ur OS is almost ten years old. let it go! because vista is coming out, a lot of the computers with XP are cheaper and come with Vista upgrades for little or no extra cost.

Sorry, to hear about your problem. Unfortunately, Microsoft has problems with OS upgrades.

I suggest you use the full windows 98SE install from CD which will require you to wipe everything.

You can buy this at some computer stores or try Used Software shop. Also, someone may have put it on Ebay.

I hope this helps.

Ask around in real life and online.... Many have upgraded their systems a long time ago to something better such as XP (not ME because that was a complete failure). If you lucky enough you might find someone who still have their original CDs, manuals etc. and if he/she is nice enough to just give it to you for free.... This is possible.... I just gave away a copy of Windows 95.... who the heck even uses that anymore.... lol.

You need to find someone who has the update fir windows 98, I would not ever install this on my computer, its too old.......Ever think about XP? Or Even 2000? Times are changing, and seem to be getting better

Thanks for letting me answer this question
