I'm in a long distance relationship that's been going on for about 2 years. We are both in our 30's I can't move because I have a child, and I'm not ready to get married. I just want him closer. Am I being unreasonable. Guys out there, would you move across the country for your girl?

My best friend and I have been friends for about 6.5 years.... Recently he moved closer to me because we agreed that we were going to take things to the next level between us. But I didn't ask him he did it on his own. I am not sure that is a request that you could ask of him. Especially if you are not sure about marriage. Its a lot for one to uproot their lives for another and start a new. I think that if you all were talking on a permanent level in your future like marriage then yes definitely but if you all are just dating and you just want him to be closer well that is a decision that he has to come to himself.

You seem to expect him to change his whole life because YOU want him to...but your not ready to commit to him? What does he get out of the move? A girlfriend? You want him to change jobs, give up his family, friends, his HOME. And in return he hears "I want you to be closer but I don't want any commitment". Wow...unreasonable doesn't seem to cover it....

With no promise of marriage? I doubt it. Unless I did the kind of work that could be easily moved or knew I could get a good job. I'd have to really really be infatuated.

Not without more than you are offering. I would also need to know that my skills were portable enough to get a job in the new location quickly. The area would also need to be enticing.

Depends on his job. If he has a nice, stable job, I don't think you should ask him. However, if moving helps him with his career, go for it because it benefits both parties.

For every reason you have, he might also have valid reasons. I don't think asking him to move is unreasonable. What is unreasonable, however, is your narcissism.
