I go to the Air National Guard once a month in Cheyenne, WY. I want to move to California, but I like going to Cheyenne for drill weekends. Would the Air Force pay for a plane ticket for me to go to drill weekends?

nope. Your choice to move, you get to foot the bill.

No, but you can stay with your current unit, and do your drills "remotely" at a unit closer to you. One advantage of being in the Guard is that if you are away from home for extended periods of time, you can simply do your drill with any National Guard unit.

However, when they go to their 2 week summer training, you will have to report to your home unit.

And remember, your promotions come from your local unit. If you are doing drills 11 months out of the year at another unit, you will likely never be promoted. And if your home unit is ever recalled (fire service for example), you will be in big trouble unless you can get home fast.

You are best off simply transfering your service to a unit closer to your new home. Your unit should be able to give you everything you need to know about doing that.

No, they wouldn't pay. Think of it this way: Are they paying mileage for the folks who work in the local area? Then why would they pay for your plane ticket?

That said, you may be able to get priority for Space A transportation. The only problem there is that you're stuck at the mercy of the flight schedules.

Not only will they not fly you to Cheyenne, they will not billet you in a hotel either. The billeting's being phased out - doesn't matter what rank you are.

Not unless you are a high ranking officer then the sky is the limit. Kisses Betty.
