Yes it is normal though it should not be encouraged when they eat their own poop something in thier poop was not digested so they eat it again and if he throws up it could be because of worms or just a upset sensitive puppy stomach also you should make sure u are not feeding him things that his little belly cant handle james's opinion--Dogs usually don't eat there own poop they usually eat other dogs poop for unknown reasons but puppies will sometimes eat there own poop cuz they are sick or they have worms.

Normal but gross, The dog throws up because its eating too fast or foods it can not digest. Here is a hint, BOIL some hamburger, make some white rice. Mix the two together, about 1/3 meat to 2/3 rice. let it cool. Feed it to your dog SLOWLY only put a little in its dish a time. Let it digest it, see if it throws up. If not give him a bit more.

this is a term called 'coprophagia' and basically means eating ones own feaces!! yum yum!
this can be normal for some dogs but not something we wont to encourage due to worms, bacteria etc. there are some formulations on the market which stop the animal doing this and basically makes the feaces even less desirable!! see your local vet to see if he/she has anything to offer. i wont quote any as many products vary from area to area depending on company and wholesaler.
a cheap option if the dog will eat it is pineapple. this has a quality within it that once digested the dog will not want to eat it again. i.e poo!!
this is not an emergancy situation and does not need to be seen by a vet and when you do its only to discuss treatment to prevent. try the pineapple ive seen good results!!

I can't help you with the throwing up, go see a vet about that, but the poop thing is totally normal. My 9-year-old mini american eskimo is perfectly healthy (except for her broken leg right now) and she's been eating her poop her whole life.

It's called "coprophagia", and yes it's normal, unfortunately. There are products available to add to your dog's food to make the poop taste bad (how it could taste worse I don't know, but I'm not a dog lol). Sometimes it helps and sometimes not. Deworm him if you haven't already, and consult a vet if the vomiting continues. You could also try a sensitive stomach or lamb and rice puppy food.

Yes. It is very normal. If you find the thought repulsive, as most dg owners do, you can teach the dog not to eat it. Most of the time, however, the dog will grow out of eating its poop.

first question i think that it is normal that a dog eats his poop because my dog does that all the time, and nothing is wrong with her, and question 2: i am not answering because that is two questions in one and that is not fair if you have another question you need to spend the extra 5 points

there's a medicine that'll make your dog stop eating his poop. go to a vet or pet shop and ask for it.there's a variety to choose from. as for the throwing up, go to a vet. have him checked up before it's too late.

Yeah! They do this! I had a friend who named his dog Sooner because he'd sooner eat poop than food.

yep. try to stop him. most the time its growing pups and they get immunity from poop. however, dogs can have a disease that causes them to always eat poop and you have to train them not to. (do some googling on that one!)
