Chowder!

A hearty, almost foolproof soup that is only limited by your imagination!

Purists (often called "chowderheads"), will tell you that you MUST start by browning some salt pork, and it must be salt pork and anything BUT salt pork will result in a pot of swill.

Rubbish.

Bacon, ham, any kind of sausage, or pork will work just fine, thank you. Cut into smallish bits (should fit on a spoon, duh) and brown it with a nice bit of onion.

Add broth or stock. What kind? Again. It doesn't matter. Chicken is wonderful, vegetable, even beef (although your chowder will be a bit dark.)

Use enough to cover the washed (please) and cut up potato. Again, should fit on a spoon. Ami I being too obvious?

Cook until just done.

Now for the fun part! You may add any sort of seafood, from clams (way traditional) mussels, shrimp, lobster, fish (avoid oily ones like salmon, shark or herring), more sausage, ham or pork, for vegetarians, corn is a fave, and good corn chowder is wonderful!

When your add-ins are in and done, turn off the pot, and add just enough milk, cream or half-and-half to make it as creamy as you want. Some people like it so thick you can practically roll it into balls, others just like a thin "cream of..." consistency.

I'm right in the middle

Into some big bowls with a pat of butter and a sprinkle of chives, parsley, paprika or nothing and enjoy with some crusty bread and a glass of white wine!

Fool around with this and you'll come up with favorites that you and your friends will enjoy for years!

And all for the price of a spud!

Best wishes!

Get the oven on. get some oil/butter and smear the potatoes and put them on a baking tray get them in an oven, turn them over in about 30 minutes and smear a bit of oil in on that side. When cooked, cut the potato in half, scoop out the potato and mash. add some cooked sliced bacon and seasoning. Mash together and put back into the potato skins. allow to cool for 30 minutes then wrap the potato's in silver foil and put in deep freeze. You've then got a tasty snack that can be microwaved in a few minutes for a very tasty ready snack!

Nothing. Eat them plain OR add some butter. Leave the skins on, rinse dirt off potatoes, cut into small pieces, put them in a pot, cover them with water, put the lid on the pot, boil them for 20 to 30 minutes, & viola! You got a meal. Freeze the leftovers & you have a quick meal you can heat up in the future! You can also make some potato salad by adding mayo & chopped hard boiled eggs to the mixture& season to your liking. Put in in the fridge & you have a quick snack! I left you a comment on that other Q & A ! Don't pick me, just try these recipes. I don't need the grief of extra points right now! Seriously. :o)

Either peel or leave the skins on.
Cube and rinse them till the water is clear.
Boil till just fork tender.
Drain them.
Add a generous helping of butter, parsely, and salt and pepper to taste.

Or

Wash them well, and slice into wedges.
Mix Olive/Canola oil with parmesean cheese, garlic, parsley, salt, pepper and a litle bit of chili powder (*optional), pour over potatoes and toss.
Place in 425 degree oven and bake until tender. About 20-25 mins.

i'm in basic terms attempting a funky recipe for potatos called golden Parmesan potatos. Preheat oven to 4 hundred levels. combination a million/2 cup each and each of parmesan cheese, white flour and bread crumbs, salt and pepper style and combine at the same time. Take 4 baking potatoes and cut back them into wedges. soften one stick of butter and positioned right into a baking pan sufficiently vast to hold the wedges. Dip the wedges in the flour combination. place dermis edge down in the baking dish. prepare dinner for quarter-hour and then turn yet another fifteen minutes and turn returned.

french fries

cut the potato in half and then start cutting them in medium slices. While you're doing that have oil in a pot or pan getting hot. Throw them in and then take them out when they are brown.
