It would be for a townhouse with a 1 year old baby and then teenagers(13 15). with not that big of a backyard but a park very close.

I love chihuahuas, but I wouldn't get one with a baby in the house. You're asking for trouble. They are very delicate little dogs and will bite to protect themselves. There are lots of small dogs that would be a better pick with your situation. Good luck!

Pro's are that Chiahuahuas are very sweet and loving. They are small so they do well in apartments and townhouses, I have a chi that is about 16 months old, I have friends with babies and all ages of kids and I have a 9 year old daughter. Everyone loves my Chi, and she is small so they are all instinctivly gentle with her. She also goes potty in the litter box so I don't have to worry about her going outside, she does love outdoors so when you take your baby to the park let your dog go to. More pro's, they are fun to dress up in adorable clothes and pamper and they look so cute riding in a purse. They are loyal.... I can go on all day! There are NO cons. (except cleaning the litter box, but well worth it) :) My chi doesn't bark unless a stranger is at the door, and she LOVES people!

Everyone loves a pet. Pros-You get a puppy, surround it with children, it will be good with the kids. A small dog doesn't need a huge backyard. Your teenagers will have a new snuggle buddy to sleep with. A pet helps lower your blood pressure. And who can't help to smile at that little pooch. Cons-Time. You will have another baby to take care of. Getting up to let him out to use the restroom and if it's cold, you'll be out in the cold too. Making sure he gets lots of attention. With a small dog, making sure no one steps on him, picking him up if he wants to sit on your lap, etc.

I have a chihuahua. She is very prtective. They tend to be one person dogs, but not all of them. Chihuahua's are somewhat fragile and the baby might not understand that it could hurt your dog.

They are very nurvos dogs and thus, they are prone to nipping especially with strangers. Mine was so nurvos that he shivered and shook all of the time. And they are so scared when you leave them that when you come back they are so happy that they tinckle. Little children tend to pull on their ears and tail and they are not very tollerant of that. I would really second guess getting a Chihuaha with small children in the house.

Chihuahuas are good dogs. The only problem with them is they are always barking. like if people walk by they the house. i dont think they like meeting new people. and they become attatched to one person. My Chihuahua loves sleeping with me under the covers, loves eating table food, and poops all over the house. I dont know about other chihuahuas but mine didnt like children because they tend to be ruff with him and he didnt like it, but i dont know. i thinks thats basically all that i know about them.

pro-they can live in small places(apts, ect) they have a longer average lifespan, than most other dogs. They usually like one person more if you don't live alone.

Cons-if you dont start training as soon as you get them, they can be somewhat hard to train.
But overall a good choice:) GOOD LUCK!
