Which camcorder recording format is better: HDD or Mini DV?

Question

I am currently looking to purchase a camcorder and need a little help. I will be using it indoors, sometimes low lighting, outdoors, and pretty much almost everywhere. I am looking to spend under 1000 dollars. I won't be doing an extreme amount of video editing, but i will be doing some. Any answer is much appreciated.
