Who are you dating, the boyfriend or the mother? It matters not what she thinks of you--only what he thinks of you. If his mother can't discern the difference between shyness and disrespect, then she isn't too bright, and not worthy of your respect or acceptance anyway. She seems to be pretty judgemental, and may be jealous, so is making your shyness into an issue by making it look like disrespect.

Maybe you need to take her out for lunch one day. Tell her it'll just be a get together for the 2 of y'all. Tell her that this lunch is really important to you and to her son. If she agrees, then when y'all do have lunch, explain to her about your shyness. Obviously theres a reason you are shy. A lot of people have several reasons. Its hard to just open up to someone you barely know. See if y'all can get to know eachother a bit better during lunch. Tell her what your goals are in life, along with your son who is involved in your life. Whether she'll like you after lunch or not is her decision. You cant just make someone like you, if they dont even want to try and get to know you. Hope this helps!

Well, I used to be very shy with the parents. I only awnsered when they asked me questions. Thats it, and then they'd tell my guy they didn't like me cause i was shy. What I did was, whenever I had to awnser a question, i wouldn't blurt it out or say it very slowly, but at quite a normal speed. Look at her face, but not her eyes (not yet, especially if she doesnt like you) if you look at her eyes too soon she might take it as a sign f disrespect(this sounds like you wanna avoid the mafia xD). Once you have awnsered her, get this shy look all over your face. Make innocent eyes-not puppy eyes, and smile. It takes some time to kick in, but at the end of the day she will like you. I did it, and now i dont have problems and parents love me always and want me back. Once I broke up with a guy and his parents told him off for letting me go cause they liked me so much ^^. :)
Good luck girl!

The next time you are in pubic with her, jump in her face and show her what dis-respect really is. If she has a problem with you now it will never get any better, so you might all well go down in a blaze of glory. I have been married twice and have had two mother-in-laws who hate me. Be yourself, after all isn't that what your boyfriend wants? If you are not going to start dating his mother then from where I'm sitting she is kinda irrelevant.

Its not as bad as you may think. I'm shy too and alot people think that am arrogant.. All you need to do is take the first step perhaps call her and ask her about her day or whatever.. I mean surprise her.. Take her out for coffee and try to open up to her and tell her about how shy u really are.. good luck

Your boyfriend should have told his mom right at the beginning that you where shy around strangers.
Your boyfriend should be the one to tell her if you still feel uncomfortable around her because of the way she is treating you.. If he doesn't then................write her a letter and send it to her and let her know how you are and how uncomfortable she is making you feel when in her presents.
One of my daughters have a slight problem like that and in writing to his mother, things turned out a lot better for her in the future...

Glare at her and slap her face. Then gently kiss her on the cheek and say...
"now if I were a REAL ***** I would never kiss and make up!!!"
