I just wish somebody would define "sin". The Bible does advise us against drinking too much - but is it a sin or just a really bad idea? Of course, anything you do to hurt somebody else while intoxicated is wrong. We do tend to hurt others when we drink too much, so I think that drinking too much leads to "sinning". Perhaps drinking isn't wrong in itself, but drinking when you know that it has lead you to hurt others in the past is wrong.

I am not sure what you mean by "occasional" alcoholism. You are either an alcoholic or you are not. Drinking or not, once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic. Drinking is not a sin. Occasionally having a bit too much is not either. What makes a sin a sin is this: Does it come between you and your God? Does it come between you are other people? Does it come between you and your true self? This is the definition of sin: Anything that separates you from God, others, or self.
PS. Saw your last note about drinking 9 to 10 bottles of wine a week, alone. If this is true, I suggest that you go to a few AA meetings and talk to folks. Only you can say if you are an Alcoholic, but it sounds to me like you are on the way there at least. Time to stop now, before it destroys your life and that of those you love.

Occasional alcoholism does not exist. Alcoholism is a permanent condition a person has, in which he has become addicted to alcohol, meaning he cannot resist drinking. So once he does get over it, in the sense that he has stopped drinking, he is still an alcoholic: he must never drink again, because he will very likely fall into the trap again.
Toomuch wine drinking? Too much of anything is a sin. Too much wine: how much is too much?
It can be a sin against your own body, someitmes it can be aq sin against the company you are with - you if you become disagreeable, obnoxious, even dangerous if you choose to drive...

There is a BIG difference between having a "glass" of wine and drinking until you are drunk.
A small glass of red wine is probably good for you body.
Too much and you are destroying your body.
There is NO SUCH THING as occasional alcoholism!!! Either you are or you're not. IF you become a alcoholic you will be one for life. IF you decide to quit drinking, you will NEVER be able to drink ANY alcoholic beverage again.....the rest of your life. One drink and you won't be able to stop until you are "wiped out". Any other qestions? Good luck. Pops

Alcoholism isn't "occasional". If you are an alcoholic, you are an alcoholic in all times and places, and must avoid any alcoholic drinks at all. Perhaps you mean "occasional drunkenness". The Bible does state that drunkenness is sinful. Moderate drinking however, as Christ and the Apostles drank, is certainly not sinful.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as "occassional" alcoholism. Alcoholism is a chronic disease that is with a person for their entire lives. But, no I don't believe that drinking is a sin. However, if ones drinking is so excessive that it interferes with their health or the function of their family, that's a different story. "Sin" is such a lame word and concept. But, excessive, destructive drinking is bad m'kay!

If you had wine with your meal and it's only a little but it's not a sin. However, if you drink the wine and beer to get drunk that is a sin.

Yes, yes. If you are a Christian, or a Jew.
It is not a sin to drink alcohol. It is a sin to drink too much, or in any manner which is against local law.

I think scripture speaks to this well enough without me sticking my finger in your face! Nobody responds well to that, anyway.
You used the words, "too much" - you must already know the answer.
I don't think there is such a thing as "occasional" alcoholism.

Too much of anything is a sin. It is a sin to get yourself obsess in such a petty matter. You should be obsess in bettering yourself and not in indulging yourself.
