I don't know why this is but I work with Dentist and for the most part they are the biggest malcontents I have met. I know that you cannot make such a stereotype but it is exactly that a stereotype so it is not true for all but for the most part they are a pain to deal with.

I guess the only reason why that I can think of is because they can't deal with the pressure from the patients getting mad at them for either the prices they charge or the time it takes to get certain things or some of the pain and inconvinience they cause.

Do they? I didnt realise this, im a dental nurse and and have worked with many different dentists and specialists etc. Any job dealing with the public closely can be quite stressfull, you have to adopt a calming attitude and be good with people while at the same time try and get on with treatment in an alloted space of time. The job doesnt suit everyone and they can be disillousioned as it isnt istantly rewarding as in some jobs, and you constantly have to deal with everyones problems etc, its endless!Although if you have a positive attitude and are good with people, you can really find it to be an enjoyable career.

Of all health professionals psychiatrists/psychologists actually have the highest suicide rates. Perhaps Dentist are also susceptible but I have not seen studies to this effect. Perhaps it is a lack of job satisfaction. I've never had an interest in dentistry as a career.

Ive heard this as well and i suspect you r talking about suicide rates in the health care field. not in all professions if that were the case it would probably be entertainers. anyways one reason i heard was they are the least liked and really only want to be sean when someone has a problem. Just something i heard.

Would you really like 99% of the population to be terrified to see you? Unless you have a Ted Bundy complex I doubt it would appeal. How about having to stick your nose infront of a hundred smelly mouths a day?

I don't know, but it must be hard bending over patients

all day, then they complain and it is a very precise art.

It must be really hard. My sister just divorced a dentist after

32 yrs. of marriage - he was a "class A" jerk though.

Dentists are constantly being sued, it's not their lack of skill, it's due to their patients either being dissatisfied after a lack of understanding, or being greedy usually.
